I'm so excited....
Not so long ago I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in life when I grew up, (yep, I'm a late bloomer...) when a chance conversation with my sister in law a few months back made me realize I wanted to pursue art professionally.
The funny thing is, that you may believe you are the world's biggest procrastinator , many times not realizing that you simply don't really want to do those things you are supposed to do, or that other people think you ought to be doing.
Life is funny that way, it seems that the moment you find your true calling, procrastination and indecision are things of the past and once you get the ball rolling the world conspires to help you achieve your dreams. Events unfold at a crazy pace and you find it hard to keep up because you have so many ideas and things you want to do and achieve, and opportunities literally fall on your lap. And you are loving the process!!!
It happened to me. I could spend entire days staring at the wall and contemplating life.. just idling away.. But since I set my mind to it, (approximately four months ago), I have painted over 20 art pieces (and sold a few of them), I have built a website / online portfolio, a Facebook fan page, which gets lots of positive feedback, and this coming Friday, the 4th of May 2012, I'm having my first Art Exhibition titled "Nature, My Muse" at the Loft of Missoula.
First Friday Gallery Night is a wonderful tradition which takes place in Missoula, Montana from 5- 8 pm on the First Friday of every month. Participants vary each month, but usually include art openings in galleries, museums, retail stores, and coffee shops. The main objective of these art openings is to show and sell art, and give the public a chance to meet the artist. Most of the activity occurs downtown Missoula.
So if you are anywhere near Missoula, Montana, join me at The Loft of Missoula, a refreshingly different gallery space this Friday! The beautiful Loft of Missoula is
located in the heart of the business district in downtown, just a few doors off Higgins on the First Friday art walk at 119 West Main, across the street from the parking garage and above the Downtown Dance Collective.
Come in and say hi, (and if you purchase a piece you'll help me with my other big passion, which is traveling :)) or simply hang out, have a snack and enjoy the wonderful band, a mix of acoustic folk/blues/funk with harmonica, stand up bass and sax. Super fun. You'll love them!
So wish me luck, but most importantly, remember, you can do anything you set your mind to!
Artist, world traveler & animal lover who found a home in Montana and purpose in Art. I'm a dreamer and that's the essence of that which I create.
